King Herod was so threatened by the birth of another ruler that he ordered all male children age 2 and younger to be killed. To spare Jesus’ life, God told Joseph in dream: “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word” (Matthew 2:13).
