Milton is now a Category 4 storm predicted to make landfall south of the Tampa metro area late Wednesday night as a major hurricane—unleashing powerful storm surge, torrential rain, and ferocious winds. Many communities in Milton’s path are still reeling from the devastation brought by Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago.

To ensure the safety of our volunteers and staff, Samaritan’s Purse is suspending all operations at our disaster relief locations in Perry and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida. Volunteer teams will resume working Friday, Oct. 11. We encourage residents in Milton’s path to heed instructions from local authorities and evacuate the region.

Shortly after Helene swamped the Big Bend region of Florida, Samaritan’s Purse deployed two Disaster Relief Units to the Sunshine State. Volunteer teams have since been serving devastated homeowners by clearing strewn debris, cutting fallen trees, and tarping damaged roofs—all the while sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

We are monitoring Milton and are prepared to respond alongside the local church in Jesus’ Name.

Please, join us in praying for those in the path of Hurricane Milton. May God provide peace and safety for those preparing for this latest storm.
