Restore Health, Reclaim Futures
Support A Medical Mission in 2025
Common ailments often go undetected in developing countries and quickly become a matter of life or death.
Most face the real threat of never receiving life-giving treatment. Samaritan’s Purse provides doctors, nurses, medical equipment, and other aid while administering hope through the healing power of the Great Physician.
This year, will you prayerfully consider supporting one of our medical projects? Your help will bring healing to people who cannot afford treatment for themselves.
CLEFT LIP AND PALATE SURGERY: Restore Smiles, Redeem Identity
Elizabeth’s world was turned upside down when her baby, Josephine, was born with a cleft lip. After seeing his daughter’s deformity, Josephine’s father abandoned them and never returned. Josephine was then given the name “Rejected” in Arabic.
What ought to have been a joyful beginning to Elizabeth’s young family had turned into a wave of loss and heartache. This is just one story among thousands like it.
“People are letting these children die because they think there’s no way to help them and they’re cursed. But we’re saying, ‘No there is a way to help them and they’re not cursed.’”
—Beth, Samaritan’s Purse Team

A new smile means a brighter future for this little boy—free from hurtful labels like Machiek (deformed).

The Gospel is shared after each surgery, offering patients the opportunity to embrace a brand-new identity as children of God.

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
—Psalm 139:14

Worldwide, one in 700 children is born with a cleft lip or palate. Babies have been abandoned by their parents who believe that their baby is cursed. Many are isolated from their community, even unable to attend school due to relentless bullying. In South Sudan, where Elizabeth lives, children like Josephine are called “Mashiek” which means “deformed”. But this is not how God sees them.
That’s why we’ve made it our mission to help these people see themselves through the eyes of Christ: “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14, ESV).
Through the Samaritan’s Purse Cleft Lip Programme, 1,670 people have received life-changing surgery free of charge in Jesus’ Name. Josephine is one of these people.
After a successful procedure, Elizabeth rejoiced over what God had done for her beautiful daughter. Overwhelmed with joy, she was ready to hear the Gospel.
Unlike secular organisations providing the same procedures, Samaritan’s Purse shares the message of Christ at every surgery. When Elizabeth heard the Gospel from a Billy Graham Evangelistic Association chaplain, she gave her life to Christ there and then.
Finding hope and joy in her Saviour, Elizabeth changed Josephine’s Arabic name to “A Gift from God”—redeeming her daughter’s true identity through the eyes of Christ.
There are so many others like Josephine who are called “deformed” and “rejected” because they were born with a cleft lip or palate. This year, our teams will be carrying out surgeries in South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and other countries. But we need your help to continue this important work. Will you help redeem the identities of “Machiek” people like Josephine?
Your gift of £200 will provide a cleft lip or palate surgery in Jesus’ Name, restoring someone’s smile and giving them an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.
CATARACT SURGERY: Restore Sight, Reconcile Hearts
Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide. Many of the 20 million people who are cataract-blind live in developing countries where corrective surgery is not available to them. Samaritan’s Purse is helping meet this need in Jesus’ Name.
Restored sight means men like this can continue to provide for their families.

Our surgery campaigns are staffed by medical volunteers who gladly give their time and expertise.

So far, more than 8,272 people have received free cataract surgery through this project.

The Gospel is shared with every patient—and many are lifting their eyes to the Lord.

Restored sight leads to rejoicing—for patients, their families, and our teams.

We send medical teams to countries like Liberia and South Sudan, offering surgical intervention for people who would otherwise spend their lives in darkness. As their sight is restored, many patients’ lives are being renewed as they place their faith in Jesus Christ.
So far, more than 8,272 people have received cataract surgery through this project. Sao is one of them.
Your £32 will cover the essential medicines and consumable supplies that are required for a cataract surgery.
EMERGENCY FIELD HOSPITAL IN SUDAN: Restore Care, Renew Hope
On Christmas Day, 2024, Samaritan’s Purse opened an Emergency Field Hospital (EFH) to help meet urgent medical needs in Sudan in Jesus’ Name. Operating 24 hours per day and in coordination with the Sudanese Ministry of Health, the EFH is primarily focused on supporting obstetric and paediatric care. As patients are treated, the Gospel is shared, providing hope to people who have lost everything.
Sudan’s healthcare system is suffering due to lack of staff, funding, and medical supplies. Gedaref alone has seen an influx of approximately three million displaced people and hospitals are operating at two to three times their normal capacity. Due to this massive amount of need, many people aren’t receiving the medical care that they direly require.
Our goal is to provide restorative care and renewed hope to these people who are living through tragically painful times.
So far, our Emergency Field Hospital has treated 1,093 inpatients, delivered 446 babies, performed 160 C-sections, and treated 6,993 outpatients.
*Figures correct as of 6/3/2025.
Your £20 will provide life-saving medical equipment for this mission hospital that is bringing healing and hope to thousands of Sudanese who have lost everything.
Will you partner with us to bring life-changing medical care to those who need it most?

Please pray for each of these medical projects—that God would continue using them to transform lives forever, for His glory.
And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."
Mark 2:17, ESV
