WHEN A DISASTER STRIKES, WILL YOUR CHURCH BE THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS?
UK Disaster Relief seeks willing Churches
What is a Lighthouse Church?
A Lighthouse Church Partners with Samaritan’s Purse to respond to local natural disasters and to share the love of Jesus Christ with those in need of practical, emotional and spiritual support.
With over 40 years experience in responding to natural disasters worldwide, our trained team will work alongside your volunteers and the wider community to ensure the best quality help and support is given.
Is my Church eqipped to be a lighthouse Church?
Yes if your Church is willing to get involved and serve when a local disaster strikes, and if you can provide one or more lead contacts!
We will train and support your Church
We will familiarise you with the work of our UK Disaster Relief Ministry so that you understand what is involved in the event of a disaster.
We will work with your Church leadership to support you in reaching out to provide spiritual and emotional support to those affected.
We provide leadership training and guidance to volunteer teams.
We provide resilience to your Church leadership that can release them to provide pastoral support while we focus on the physical task.
All our support and training is free – there is no financial cost to your Church.
Through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, we offer The Sharing Hope in Crisis (SHIC) course to enable a church to better respond to crisis and Trauma.
We will respond together in the local community working with and alongside the local authorities, emergency services, other agencies and voluntary organisations.
Your Church could help to provide volunteers and local information.
Practical and physical work will include clearing debris and cleaning out flood damage.
If you have facilities where we can meet it is helpful but not essential.
There is also the opportunity to respond to disaster situations elsewhere in the UK.
The work of UK Disaster Relief could not happen without our remarkable volunteers and partnering Churches.
Is your Church ready to be a beacon of hope to devastated communites?
I would like to be kept informed of how Samaritan’s Purse is meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine disease and natural disaster while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
