Richmond Park sponsored walk – Saturday 14th May
On Saturday 14th May we will be meeting at Richmond Park to Walk for Water, and raise money to bring the precious gift of clean water to the people of Unity State, South Sudan. We would love for you to join us for what will be a great day out.
We need your help to rehabilitate and drill 70 wells to provide clean, safe water to 35,000 people in Unity State, South Sudan. To do this we need to raise £525,000 between April 1st and 30th June 2016. Just £15 will give a child the precious gift of clean water for life! Anything you can do to help one child or more would be great!Register Here
Meet: At the car park in front of Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park at 10.30am. There are many transport options for getting to Pembroke Lodge:
Tube/Train - The nearest station is Richmond which you can get to by tube or train. It’s about a 30 minute walk from Richmond station to the Lodge.
Bus - The 65 and the 371 buses pick up from Richmond station at Stop D, and both drop off at The Dysart which is a 12 minute walk from Pembroke Lodge.
Car - There is a Car Park at Pembroke Lodge with 250 spaces, this will fill up fast at the weekend so we advise parking up as early as you can on the day.
WHEN DOES IT START?
We will meet at Pembroke Lodge at 10.30am. The walk will start at 10.45am
WHAT’S THE ROUTE?
This whole route is roughly 7.5 miles. There will be a number of stops along the way where you can take alternative routes to shorten this distance if you wish. For those wanting to go further, we have planned out an extended route which will take you out the park, through Ham, and back to Richmond via the River Thames. This full walk will be roughly 12 miles.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The walk around Richmond Park will take 2.5 - 3 hours depending on how often you would like to stop to take in the beautiful surroundings, or to enjoy a break for some food and drink. We will definitely have a packed lunch stop as well. Please do remember to bring some water for yourselves. (Hopefully you will not require waterproofs but please be prepared)
Most of all we want you to really enjoy the day so please feel free to walk at whatever pace suits you and walk as far as you would prefer to go. There is no set end time.
