Easter event Spring Harvest and humanitarian organisation Samaritan’s Purse have announced a major partnership.

“We share a passion to combine practical action with spiritual outreach” said Spring Harvest CEO Peter Martin, “and this partnership will help Spring Harvest guests to connect with people and projects that capture that combination.”

Cathy Madavan and Rev Cris Rogers, both members of the Spring Harvest planning group, will visit Liberia in December to see first-hand the distribution of gift-packed shoeboxes from the UK. This is part of Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse project known widely in the UK. Worldwide, over 120 million shoeboxes have been distributed in the last 25 years.

At Spring Harvest 2016, Cathy and Cris will report on their experiences. Based on the theme of Game Changers, the event will encourage and challenge Christians to make a difference in their communities at both spiritual and practical levels. Around 20,000 people attended Spring Harvest at Butlins Minehead and Skegness last year.

Operation Christmas Child connects strongly with children and young people, as both givers and receivers. This resonates strongly with Spring Harvest’s commitment to high quality activities for all-age groups, teenagers and children.

“We are delighted to be sharing our front-line overseas mission and relief experience with Spring Harvest guests of all ages” commented Samaritan’s Purse Executive Director Simon Barrington, “and it will be wonderful to make known our activities at an event where there is such a strong commitment to evangelism alongside church based community work.”
